I offer individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. While I primarily use a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach with a touch of Humanism, I find it beneficial to also include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, cooperative, and proactive problem-solving approaches.
Using these tools, we can work together to identify issues that are interfering with well-being and explore the history that shapes them. Then we can increase awareness and acceptance of vulnerabilities, as well as build resilience and skills for healthier emotional and social functioning.
In our first session together, I focus on getting to know you and your history. I also concentrate on understanding your primary concerns. Together we will identify your specific goals for therapy, which will then shape subsequent sessions. Generally, sessions are 50 minutes in length and can be weekly to bi-weekly, or more depending on your concerns. The nature, length, and frequency of our work will be discussed and determined together.
