Meet Jillian
Jillian is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at McMaster University, who started at Dr. Gayle M. Goldstein & Associates in 2022. She holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology, and an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from McMaster University. Jillian draws from various therapeutic modalities to meet each client’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centred Therapy. Jillian uses a compassionate and client-centred therapeutic approach. She believes that therapy should be strengths-based and tailored to an individual’s unique circumstances.
Jillian has extensive experience working with neurodivergent children, adolescents, and adults. Additionally, Jillian has completed numerous clinical practicum placements at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and has worked with individuals with a range of other presenting concerns, some of which include anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, learning disabilities, and personality disorders.
Jillian additionally practices Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and family relationships. As a subset of her work, Jillian offers therapy for neurodivergent relationships (whereby one or both individuals identify as Autistic and/or ADHD). Her approach is grounded in understanding the unique dynamics of relationships through a compassionate, strengths-based lens. Jillian helps partners enhance communication, navigate differences with empathy, and foster emotional connection in a safe and affirming environment. Her practice celebrates diversity while addressing the challenges that can arise in these complex and meaningful relationships.
Jillian is supervised by Dr. Jackie Cappell to work with couples and supervised by Dr. Gayle Goldstein to support Neurodivergent individuals.
